Schroder Indonesia Expects Fund Growth to Slow to 20%

PT. Schroder Investment Management Indonesia, the nation's biggest mutual fund manager, said asset growth may slow to 20% this year as a "difficult" stock market curbs gains in share prices and sales.
Growth may decline from 50% last year, Michael Tjoajadi, deputy chief executive at Schroder, said in an interview in Jakarta on Friday. Mutual fund product sales may contribute about 10% of this year's growth, and asset value gains may account for the rest, Tjoajadi said.
The Jakarta Composite Index fell 0,7% in the first quarter, the first drop since the three months ended December 2008, amid concern rising oil prices will prompt the government to cut fuel subsidies, adding to inflation. Shares on the index are valued at an average 14.8 times estimated earnings, down from last year's high of 18.49 on Dec. 9, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
"It's a difficult market amid uncertainty over the oil price and its impact on the global economy," Tjoajadi said. "People get in and out of mutual funds because they try to beat the timing of a market recovery when they should just stay on."

Judicial Commission to Spread Network

The Judicial Commission and nine regional legal aid NGOs signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday to establish regional monitoring posts in nine provinces in an attempt to expand the national justice-monitoring network.
"This monitoring network is an absolute necessity to ensuring law enforcement in Indonesia," commission secretary general Muzayyin Mahbub told The Jakarta Post. "I believe it will help the commission greatly."
The commission had previously cited "the inability to legally establish offcial regional offices and the low level of public awareness of the need to report ethical violations by regional judges" as two reasons to create the monitoring network.
"These posts are expected to assist the commission handle public complaints and monitor judges performances in their respective provinces," commission spokesperson Asep Rahmat Jafar said.
During the 2009-2010 period, the commission had established similar posts in nine other regions: North Sumatra, Riau, South Sumatra, East Java, East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Bali and West Nusa Tenggara.
The nine posts altogether monitored 35 trials and processed 32 public complaints during the period.
This year, the new posts will be established in Aceh, West Sumatra, Lampung, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, Central Sulawesi and North Sulawesi.

10 Small Parties Merge to Contest 2014 Elections

As many as 10 non-legislative parties have agreed to merge into one bigger party in an attempt to pass the recently increased electoral requirements ahead of the 2014 general elections.
The National Union Party (PPN) would be officially inaugurated in June, said Didi Supriyanto, head of the 10 parties' team tasked with preparing the new party's establishment. "We just finished consolidating the parties' branches at regional levels in all 33 provinces," Didi told The Jakarta Post on Friday.
He said the party would be registered at the Law and Human Rights Ministry by the end of June.
The ministry has announced that the registration will be closed in mid-August, after which ministry officials will begin verifying the registered parties.
Once the PPN is established, Didi will leave his position as secretary general of the Democratic Renewal party (PDP), one of the 10 merging parties.
The other nine parties are the Freedom Bull National Party (PNBK), the Regional Unity Party (PPD), the National Sun party (PMB), the Indonesian Democracy Vanguard Party (PPDI), the Indonesian Democracy Devotion Party (PKDI), the Pioneer Party, the Patriot Party, the Prosperous Indonesia Party (PIS) and the Indonesian Youth Party (PPI).
The PPn would be a nationalist party with the slogan, "the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) and Pancasila are not negotiable!" Didi said. One of the forming parties, the PMB, is a Muslim-based party linked to Muhammadiyah, the nations's second-largest Islamic Organization.

RI Plans Minimum Price For Coking Coal

Indonesia plans to set a monthly minimum price for coking coal, said an official at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.
The government may use various price indexes as a base for the benchmark, Bambang Gatot Ariyono, director of coal development at the ministry, said in an interview in Jakarta on Friday. He didn't give details on the price formula or the timeframe for the plan.
Indonesia, the world's largest exporter of thermal coal, has since February 2010 set reference prices to guide producers in writing contracts and calculating royalty payments to the government.
The price for coal with a gross energy value of 6,322 kilocalories a kilogram was cut 3,6 percent in March from a month earlier to US$122.43 a metric ton, the first reduction since September.
Coking coal will likely average about $285 a ton this year as prices remain "well supported" by global steel demand, Deutsche Bank AG said in a report Thursday.

PT. MRT Expects Local Firms to Join Project

PT. Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta announced an invitation for the city's first MRT construction project, saying it expected to draw more local contractors to the project.
The city-owned company placed announcements of pre-qualification for the first phase of the MRT project in major newspaper Friday.
"We are going to divide the first phase into six packages. I hope most of the tender winners will be local contractors," Rachmadi, PT. MRT's director for engineering, said Friday.
The cost of the MRT will be covered mostly by a Y 120 billion (US$ 1.4 billion) soft loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The total cost of the projec is estimated at Y144 billion.
Rachmadi said there would be a main Japanese contractor in the project, but the company would prioritize local contractors.
The first phase of the project involves the construction of an MRT central station and depot and a line running from Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta to the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle in Central Jakarta. The 15.5 kilometer-long route will run for 10.5 kilometers above ground and 5 kilometers underground.

Bad Friday

When suicide bomber blew himself up in a mosque inside the Cirebon Police complex in West Java on Friday, terrorists sent yet another message that they would never stop their attack on humanity in Indonesia.
No one expected the explosion just before a Friday prayer, therefore the suspected terrorist found it easy to secure a place close to Cirebon Police chief Adj.Sr.Comr.Heru Koco, who was among the 26 people injured in the incident, which occurred a week ahead of Good Friday.
The Cirebon blast, the previous attacks on Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta and Syuhada Mosque in Yogyakarta in 1999, the simultaneous bombings of churches on New Year's Eve in 2000, the carnage in Bali in 2002 and 2005, the hotel and embassy attacks in Jakarta in 2003, 2004 and 2009 and other acts of terror plaguing the country only underline the fact that such heinous attacks could take place anywhere.
Only recently, most-wanted 2002 Bali bomber Umar Patek was reportedly captured in Pakistan. But, as seen in the latest bombing and a hatful of attacks preceding it, the terror group has never fallen short of recruits ready to die for their cause, no matter what happened to their leaders.
Countries such as Australia have been on alert for fresh attacks in Indonesia following the arrest of Patek, which has so far remained unconfirmed by the Indonesian police.
It comes as no surprise, actually, that terrorists targeted the police as happened in Cirebon on Friday, in the bank heist in Medan and the killing of two police officers in the Central Java town of Purworejo last year. Since the twin hotel bombings in Jakarta in July 2009, the police's counter-terrorism squad has stepped up its efforts to clamp down on terror networks across the country.

Beware Invisible Police

For those who habitually ignore traffic signals in the absence of police officers, you must immediately cease. such bad habits or someone may come knocking at the front door of your house, bringing you an invitation to a court hearing and requiring you to pay a fine for your violation.
The new ticketing system will be possible after the Jakarta Police install monitoring cameras at intersections across the city. The police have installed cameras at the Sarinah intersection on Jl. Thamrin, Central Jakarta, and plan soon to install many more cameras in 50 other intersections.
The new system, the Electronic-Traffic Law Enforcement (E-TLE), which is scheduled to be fully-enforced in May, seems to be an effective way to force motorists will always feel monitored by the hidden cameras.
The police have confirmed the effectiveness of this system based on results of a trial period since early this month in which traffic violators were informed that they were being monitored. "The number of violations at Sarinah declined from about 500 to only 23 a day," said the head of Jakarta Traffic Police's law enforcement, Sr. Comr. Yakub Dedy Karyawan, early this week.
When the systems is fully operational, according to the police, the violators could be fined up to Rp. 1.5 million (US$174) : Rp 500.000 for violating a traffic signal, Rp. 500.000 for crossing a white line and Rp. 500.000 for entering a yellow box.
The introduction of the electronic traffic ticketing system is a good step to encouraging motorists to respect the laws, because undisciplined motorists who often ignore traffic signs worsen traffic congestion.

Hanya Karena Ridho-Mu…

Doa Untuk Kedua Orang Tua
“Rabbighfir lii waliwaa lidayya warhamhumaa kamaa rabbayaanii shaghiiraa”

Artinya :

peliharalah mereka sebagaimana mereka memeliharaku.

syafa'at untukku. Tetapi jika sebaliknya, maka izinkanlah aku memberi
syafa'at untuk mereka, sehingga kami semua berkumpul bersama dengan
santunan-Mu di tempat kediaman yang dinaungi kemulian-Mu,ampunan-Mu serta
rahmat-Mu
